This user conference Hitachi focused on the development of particle tumor therapy technology in the following aspects: 1. Improve the dose rate of synchrotron-based Flash activities; 2. Optimal design for better irradiation performance; 3. Online adaptive treatment; 4. Speed up the work process of PIAS matching algorithm and other aspects.

In addition to the online user conference held this time, each Hitachi user conference is a good opportunity for Hitachi users from all over the world to communicate with each other and establish cooperative relationships. The 2019 Hitachi User Conference was the first time that the Xuzhou Proton Heavy Ion Project participated in the conference. At this conference, Hitachi introduced the Xuzhou project for the first time. Since the Xuzhou project will be the first user in the world to use Hitachi particle all-in-one equipment, it has attracted many attentions at the conference and has established future cooperation relationships with some well-known medical institutions from Japan and the United States.

At present, Hitachi has 30 users worldwide: 19 projects in Japan, 6 projects in the United States, and 5 projects in other countries and regions.

At this conference, Hitachi also introduced recent major milestones:

1. The first integrated particle (proton + heavy ion) therapy system will be located in Xuzhou, China.

2. The second phase of the Proton Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the United States once again chose Hitachi's particle therapy system. MD Anderson's Phase I Proton Center has been in operation for 13 years.

3. The Proton Center of Hopkins University in the United States, equipped with Hitachi's proton therapy system, opened.

4. Hitachi's heavy ion therapy system will soon be located in the third particle center of the Mayo Clinic in the United States. The Hitachi Proton Therapy System has been operating at the 2 Proton Centers of the Mayo Clinic for 4 years.

5. The first Hitachi proton equipment was put into operation at the Spanish Proton Center in Europe.

As of June 2019, Hitachi’s global facilities have treated the cumulative number of patients. The number of proton therapy has exceeded 40,000, accounting for about 20% of the global proton therapy population; the number of heavy ion therapy has exceeded 23,000, accounting for approximately the global number of heavy ion therapy 70% of it.
